The world comes to Denver with artwork from 30 master artists selected by the International Folk Art Market. Enjoy holiday shopping at the Tansey Contemporary and the International Folk Art Market Holiday Boutique. This unique sale will offer high-quality artisan-made goods such as jewelry, scarves, accessories and home furnishings. Among the offerings will be wool and silk scarves from Kyrgyzstan, Kantha embroidered pieces from India, beaded jewelry from Kenya and Ecuador, and peace baskets from Rwanda. There will be painted egg ornaments from Ukraine and silver and gold jewelry from Spain and Kazakhstan, to name just a few. Children’s gifts and home goods will be available, too.

Tansey Contemporary’s gallery program is focused at the intersection between fine craft, contemporary art and design. They exhibit museum quality collectible objects from artists, designers and makers based all over the world who have developed a level of mastery in their medium and who make positive contributions to the communities surrounding their craft.

“Through our program’s focus on artists who have developed a level of mastery working in a craft-based medium, we have learned the powerful impact that craft communities have on artists and the role their craft plays in their life stories,” says Tansey Contemporary Owner and Director Jennifer Tansey. “We believe fundamentally in craft’s ability to facilitate cross-cultural connections, and are committed to bringing artists from all over the world into Denver to share their stories through their work. Partnering with International Folk Art Market is a wonderful opportunity for us to support their mission and to make a positive contribution to the global craft community. The artists that International Folk Art Market works with are supporting themselves and their families with their work and it is important to us to support their efforts.”

Guest Artists:

Rupa Trivedi from Adiv Pure Natural

Mumbai-based Adiv Pure Nature Products was founded by Rupa Trivedi in 2008. The company’s mission is to promote the use of natural dyes—derived from plants and medicinal herbs—to create a sustainable and green fashion supply chain. The artists of Adiv Pure Nature Products are known for the library of 90 different natural dye colors. Adiv’s special initiative known at the Temple Project, collects marigold, coconut husks, hibiscus, and rose offerings from local Mumbai Hindu temples, all of which are used in various dye processes. Advi’s dyers are self-taught and often come from challenging circumstances in Mumbai. Their resourcefulness is integral to the company’s work.

Andrea Usai

Gold and silver Sardinian filigree jeweler, Andrea Usai, will be a special guest at the Holiday Boutique. Andrea combines traditional skill with contemporary design and techniques exclusive to Sardinian artisans to produce beautiful, vibrant and desirable jewelry of the highest standards. In 2010, Andrea launched KOKKU a jewelry brand centered on preserving Sardinian culture and the art of filigree. This is an opportunity to meet Andrea, buy exquisite jewelry, and learn more about how his artwork impacts lives in his home community.
