When is the International Folk Art Market | Santa Fe?
The International Folk Art Market | Santa Fe is held annually during the second full weekend of July.

In 2017 the Market is:
Friday, July 14: Market Opening Party: 6:30pm to 9:00pm
Saturday, July 15: Early Bird: 7:30am to 10:00am, Regular Market: 10:00am to 5:30pm
Sunday, July 16: 9:00am to 5:00pm

How do I buy tickets?
Tickets for the 2017 Market will go on sale April 1, 2017. Check back at our home page, folkartalliance.org on April 1, 2017 for purchasing options. Sign up for our eNewsletter to stay in touch with the latest announcements about tickets.
Tickets are limited and events may sell out. Purchase in advance to secure yours!

Saturday and Sunday tickets include admission to the Museum of International Folk Art, Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, and the Santa Fe Botanical Garden.

Children 16 and under are admitted for free on both Saturday 10:00am – 5:30pm and Sunday from 9:00am – 5:00pm  during the Market.

How do I get to the International Folk Art Market?

Is there parking on “Museum Hill” where the Market is held?
No public parking is available on Museum Hill. As well, there are several road closures and parking restrictions during the Market that prohibit traffic from entering the site.
What about visitors with mobility issues and/or disabilities?
Every effort has been made to make your Market site visit as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Parking and Transportation
Accessible transport services are available for attendees with disabilities or mobility issues, as well as for their families and caregivers. Ample accessible parking has been reserved in both of the park-and-ride lots, directly adjacent to the attendee shuttles.

Special shuttles will be on standby at both the Sun (South Capitol) and Moon (PERA) Park-and-Ride Lots for those requiring additional time or assistance. These are fully equipped to transport wheelchairs and scooters of all sizes and will drop passengers across from the front entrance to the International Folk Art Market.

Golf carts and staff will be on standby to assist you to the Market entrance if required.

A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available on Museum Hill for those requiring access to specialized medical equipment, or access to their vehicles. These must be reserved in advance to guarantee a space by contacting us at parking@folkartalliance.org.

Accessible parking spaces on Museum Hill will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. If you be unable to reserve an accessible parking space prior to your arrival at the Market, attendees displaying a valid ADA placard will be able to access accessible parking, space permitting.

Event Site
All three areas of the Market site and the museums on Milner Plaza are accessible for those with mobility issues. Keep in mind this is an outdoor event, with multiple levels, and uneven walking surfaces. An elevator is available to access both the lower and upper levels of the Market. The food bazaar is accessible as well, though there is a short incline that you must travel up and down to get to the dining area. For those attendees who do not feel comfortable navigating this incline, dining is also available at the Museum Hill Café on the upper level of the Market.

Wheelchairs are not provided by the Market, so please bring your own if you need one while visiting. The museums on Milner Plaza provide wheelchairs for museum visits, only.

Can I ride my bicycle to the Market?
Yes. A bike valet is available beginning Saturday, 7:30 am and Sunday, 9 am. Bicycles MUST enter Camino Lejo from Camino Corrales as Camino Lejo is one-way (north) during the Market. Bike Santa Fe’s valet service will be located on the right side of Camino Lejo about 20 yards before the Market entrance.

The valet service is free but donations are accepted by our partner Bike Santa Fe.

Will there be food at the International Folk Art Market | Santa Fe?
Yes. Visitors can expect anything from Cambodian and Indian to Mediterranean and New Mexican foods at our International Food Bazaar. The Museum Hill Café is also open during the Market.
Is there bag screening at the event?

Due to heightened security measures across our nation, the International Folk Art Alliance is supplementing its own security procedures by adding bag screenings to the entry process at the 2017 the International Folk Art Market | Santa Fe for all patrons, sponsors, volunteers, media and vendors attending or working the event.

The International Folk Art Alliance would like to remind its visitors that IFAM | Santa Fe takes place on state property, and as such, weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited.  All bags and purses are subject to inspection upon entry and re-entry. IFAA will reserve the right not to allow any bag, parcel, or other item to be brought into the Market.

As we implement this security enhancement, we are making every effort to ensure our entry process remains as efficient as possible. We appreciate your patience as we work to keep the lines friendly.

  • Budget additional time – entry lines will be slightly longer than in the past
  • Have your ticket ready to be scanned once you reach the entry to Market

What about water and other beverages?
We provide free, cold, filtered water through Good Water Company at four locations on site. Bring a refillable water bottle and you may fill it up at any time for free! If you forget a water bottle, we provide disposable cones at each water station, or you may elect to purchase one of our refillable water bottles. A variety of other drinks, from carbonated soda to aguas frescas are also sold on site.

Is there an ATM on site?
Yes. Next to the elevator on the upper level of the Market.
What if a buy an item that is particularly large and fragile at the Market?
Most items at the Market are easily transportable on the visitor shuttles. Feel free to take up more than one seat; they run constantly and there’s room for all!

Visitors may also use the services of the packing and shipping company PakMail, on site all weekend. They can wrap any purchase in bubble wrap for free, box it up professionally for a fee, and even deliver it to your home (also for a fee). They can deliver items locally and internationally.

If you end up purchasing something that you physically cannot get on a shuttle without great risk to you and/or the item, and you don’t want to ship it, we can help. Stop by the information booth on the upper level of the Market for more information.

Are there any events for children?
Yes. The countless sites and sounds experienced at the Market, thrill people of all ages. In addition, there are workshops and demonstrations held each day. Check back for a full event listing before the Market.

The Children’s Passport Project held on Sunday during the Market, is a fun way to awaken a child’s awareness about the many countries and cultures represented at the Market. After receiving a “passport,” children collect flag stickers from each “country” (artist booths) they visit to put in their passports.

Children 16 and under are admitted for free on both Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am – 5:00pm during the Market.

What happens in the case of inclement weather?
The International Folk Art Market | Santa Fe is a rain or shine event. Most activities take place under cover, in beautiful tents.

Remember, the Market admission includes entry to two fabulous museums on the site, the Museum of International Folk Art and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, as well!

What should I bring to the Market?
We suggest bringing a refillable water bottle (we provide free, filtered water through Good Water kiosks), sunscreen and/or a hat, and comfortable walking shoes.

Small umbrellas, strollers (note: there is no stroller parking area), purses, sunscreen, small personal Items, and blankets are also ok. Please note that all bags, purses, backpacks and persons may be subject to screening by security personnel.

May I bring my pet to the Market?
No. Pets are not allowed on site due to a state of New Mexico ordinance. Properly identified assistance animals are allowed.
Is there anything else that is not allowed at the Market?
The following are not allowed: coolers, glass bottles, alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons, flammable Items, fireworks, explosives or incendiary devices, pepper spray or mace, knives, animals (with the exception of service animals), skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, items that may be deemed a safety hazard or annoyance to participants or guests (balls, Frisbees, balloons, projectiles, horns, radios, bells, whistles, musical instruments, laser pointers, etc.), large golf-type umbrellas, chairs.
Do you have a lost and found?
Yes. During the hours of the Market our lost and found is located in our Information Booth located on the upper level of the Market, to the left, just after the stairs.

After the Market, the Museum of International Folk Art admissions desk kindly houses leftover lost items. They can be reached at (505) 476-1200.
